Startup Disk COMPLETELY FILLED by Trans w/hidden files!
Startup Disk COMPLETELY FILLED by Trans w/hidden files!
I've been using Transmission for years and absolutely love it. I have a very serious problem though and really need some help. For the second time now, after I hit "resume all" several old torrents I had still in the main window started re-downloading (even though their destination drives were NOT attached). After I noticed this it was too late and my boot-drive has 24MB of free space! When clicking on the magnifying glass to see where the files are, nothing happens and when looking at the file directory I don't see anything and many gigabytes are unaccounted for. Can someone please tell me how to find and delete these partial files and how to prevent this from happening again?
Re: Startup Disk COMPLETELY FILLED by Trans w/hidden files!
Thanks. I did that and turned on hidden files and then organized everything in the finder to display by size and think I found most of them. Thanks for the help!
If anyone else needs to, I typed this into the Terminal to show hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true

Re: Startup Disk COMPLETELY FILLED by Trans w/hidden files!
Should we use "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false" when we are finished? I found only, well, volumes, in the /Volumes location. One of them was not currently attached, yet showed up, with a single .app in it, nothing else. I didn't find any Transmission files, but I haven't had this problem as described. I thought perhaps other applications might have written hidden data, too, and I might be able to free up dome HD space. Would these stray files just appear in /Volumes, or within one of the volumes that appear there?
