question on transmission web server

Post by shredhead1080 »

I set up Transmission on my NAS and also on my router. The reason for two instances was really to test to make sure I could access the page remotely since I was having issues on the NAS.

I can connect to the router's instance remotely no problem.... XXXX.dyndns.org:8081 (yes, I changed the port number so they would not conflict). I can connect to the NAS' instance remotely no problem... XXXX.dyndns.org:9091. So it's working.

While testing to see whether it was working, I used both of the above URLs. To my surprise, the router's instance connected and the NAS' instance didn't. It just sat there and never finished rendering the page. This caused me to waste an awful lot of time troubleshooting. Once I realized I might be doing something stupid I connected to both url's with my Blackberry, thus realizing I had everything set up correctly. With no need for two instances, I then shut down the one on the router.

But, why does one page render fine and the other just hang? Something to do with port forwarding I assume. Can anyone shed some light here?
