"Announce error: Connection failed" on dragged magnet links

Post by dakta »

On Transmission Mac 2.75 (13665):

Dragging a magnet link into Transmission, while it is open, with other transfers running, causes the magnet link to never get successful tracker announce. Trackers report "Announce error: Connection failed" and "Scrape error: Connection failed" forever. Quitting and reopening Transmission in this state fixes the issue; the magnet link trackers will announce properly and everything works fine.

It's worth noting that these magnet links often have the same trackers as existing torrents, which announce just fine alongside the failed dragged-in magnet link. Restarting Transmission forces a tracker announce, which works correctly.

Happy to provide any additional information, just ask.

I have the same version, but restarting doesn't help. I recently moved and have a new internet connection. The problem started then so I assume it's because of the ISP. Any Suggestions?

Happened to me when using a VPN service. While connected to a server I kept having the same issues. Then I switched to a different one and the errors stopped and all worked as intended. So my conclusion is a problem with the previous VPN server either with ports or with connection itself. That was something I didn't think right away myself, just came to mind while troubleshooting. Hope this may help some who had the same issue and have been using VPN connection.

Cheers!
