Odd Client Freeze

I'll preface this with the fact that I'm running the client on a shitty old machine from 2012 that doesn't have very much power at all, so that may be a contributing factor.

My problem goes something like this. I'll restart the computer, & open the client, which is seeding around 500 various torrents. It'll start up fine, & maybe seed a small amount & download some of whatever is downloading. At some stage, all the downloads will just *cut* - they'll still show as actively available to seed or download, but I'll get no download or upload even on a torrent 90% undownloaded with a number of high-bandwidth peers. When I then attempt to pause any of the torrents, the client freezes & I have to force quit & restart my machine to get it running again.

Any clue what might be causing this? Thanks
