Transmission 3.0 won't connect to peers, v2.94 no problems [Catalina]

I recently updated to Transmission 3.0 and it became almost impossible to connect to peers. I left my computer with 4 popular torrents open for an hour and none connected to or even saw any peers, 0 of 0. I tried this with both my firewall and VPN completely disabled but the problem persisted. After downgrading back to Transmission 2.94 however all of my torrents connected almost instantly and finished downloading in the time it took me to type this.

Computer is a 2012 MacBook pro 9,2 (500gb ssd, 16gb ram, i5 2.5ghz), running Catalina 10.15.7. No issues using 2.94 in the meantime but damn do I want that dark mode
