looking for an answer i cant find in the forums..
we have a modest broadband bandwidth of 1.5mbs.
we have several computer in our network (cabled), and a gigabit switch plus a gigabit router.
i'm the only one who uses transmission.
when i have it on, the internet speeds plummet for all machines, even using simple google searches.
when transmission is off, all machines hum along very well.
can anyone suggest why this happens and if there's a remedy?
why does transmission dominate our internet bandwidth
Re: why does transmission dominate our internet bandwidth
thanks..
my global max connections now 95 ,
d/l speed 250, u/l 50..
re active torrents..
if i pause one thats running, does that make it 'inactive'?
or do i need to remove it all together to inactivate it?

Re: why does transmission dominate our internet bandwidth
Your download speed cap (250KBps) is higher than your stated cable speed (1.5Mbps = 192KBps excluding overhead).
Re: why does transmission dominate our internet bandwidth
1. Turn off transmission and try and make sure no other computers are downloading on your network.
2. Go to speedtest.net and find out your ACTUAL upload and download speed.
3. Limit your upload to about half that reported by speedtest.net and your download to at least 10% less.
4. As already stated, reducing your global connections will also help but that has more to do with how good your router is... Most consumer routers have very little ram and get swamped by too many connections easily.
