transmission help

Hi my name is jason and ive got a 1990 ford f-150 4x4 302. My truck had a 4 speed in it when i got it and i took it out to put in a 5 speed and now i am getting alot worse gas milage and i dont know how can anybody help me find an answer?

If you're worried about mileage don't drive a Ford truck.
