How to secure (HTTPS) access Transmission remotely

Post by drayon »

I have a Mac on at home with Transmission running, I need to access Transmission remotely when I leave home and work away where i'll be able to use an internet connection at work but i'll only have an iPad. I tested a few things locally but Im afraid that accessing Transmission from iCab it is insecure. I need to download torrent files from a private and secured HTTPS tracker. BUT i don't wan't to upload this file without encryption to the remote transmission at home.

Will Transmission in the very near future provide us with HTTPS access to the remote Transmission via the web interface?

In the meantime is there any way to configure Snow Leopard to encrypt traffic to the transmission daemon? I've read lots of stuff on proxies but nothing there was explained in any useful way how to do this. Mostly its a whole pile of talk about adding stuff to apache web servers but nothing specific to Mac OS X. They don't even mention how to actually run this apache server and none of the config files they mention are on my system.

Anyone have an easy guide for Mac OS X users to set this HTTPS secure remote of Transmission?
