Unable to save resume file: In/out - error

Post by Melpomene »

I am running Transmission on Ubuntu 10.10, and I have a problem with my downloads.
I am able to download files but then i get an error stating: "Unable to save resume file: In/out - error".

If i restart my client all torrents begin to download anew and then the error returns.

What can this be due to? I am not lacking disc space,
The resume folder in .config/transmission/ is owned by my user

Code: Select all

drwxrwxr-x 2 melpo melpo 12288 2010-07-06 08:40 resume
but it does not contain any files.

What can be the cause of my problem?

Hi,

"Group" ownership may be the culprit.

But look at group ownership for the other Transmission directories and files.

Group ownership is the same as my user on all of the files and folders in the /home/user/.config/transmission folder.

Transmission normally runs as the same user who started it right? Dubble check this and the transmission process runs on the same id as my current user.
Also, since the same file system rights is used in the torrent folder as in the resume folder it seems weird that transmission is able to move started torrents into the torrent folder.
I would chuck the resume folder first and if that doesn't work do the fsck -rfy thing as I/O errors are often caused by a corrupted or failing HD.
Ran the test and it seems one of the discs in my RAID had some broken sectors. I will try to repair this and see if this will solve the problems with transmisson.
