Hey,
I've got a question about moving files. Yes I know, it was asked a hundred times with a hundred answers....
But I have over 400 files in seed which I'd like to move to an other location. The files are already organized on the disks (about 160 folders almost 3TB).
Is there a possibility to move them all together? Keeping the folder structure?
Or do I have to create all the folders again on the new disk and move it one by one and force a recheck?
Can I first move all the folders and files and transmission will be able later on to recognize it?
What is the easiest way to do ?
thanks for help
Talking about Transmission 2.22 on Mac 10.6
move a whole disk of files
Re: move a whole disk of files
I don't really know, but I would GUESS -- assuming you're going from one external to another external drive which is to be plugged into the same Mac -- that if you cloned the external to a new drive and gave the new drive the same name as the old drive - then unplugged (or maybe renamed) the old drive and fired up Trans, Trans would follow the original directory path and end up accessing the new drive.
I haven't tried it myself though - and you might still end up doing a verify (a very LONG verify...
) ... so I'd test it out with a few files first.

Re: move a whole disk of files
thanks for the hint. I was also thinking about giving the same disk names..and if the new disk is going to be connected on the same port, I also guess that it could work out...
The prob is that I already have two 2TB disks on the usb and I'd like to move the files to a NAS, connected over the ethernet.
Well, about the looooong verify, I guess I could live with it, as long as I can keep the file and folder structure. That's my main concern. If not, I have to move every file manually and then do the verify...
Maybe it's possible to change the path of the files in one of the trans system files? So I could link it over to the network.. Guess this would be the most simple solucion.

Re: move a whole disk of files
Am I missing something? Why not just select all the torrents in Transmission and context-menu "Move Data File To ..."?
Re: move a whole disk of files
Well, that would be the easiest way, it will copy all the files, but it won't keep the folder structure...
So I'll have to move it manually again into the correct folder and do the recheck, right?
