Slow DLs fixed by reverting to Trans 2.22

Post by sparky »

Have been fighting with Transmission 2.32 for several days trying to figure out why DL speeds are 10 percent of what they were in the recent past.

I did the "open port" dance, in fact, opening the entire range of 50000-65000 for torrents. No joy.

Followed the excellent suggestions at https://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/SlowSpeeds : No joy.

You can see my pain here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11929&p=55362#p55362 (possibly mis-titled).

The only thing that fixed it was to install Transmission version 2.22 in place of 2.32.

Torrents that were showing remaining time in days now show 2 hours. All is well.

Sparky.

1. Do you have any per-torrent or global speed limits set? No
2. What are your global and per-torrent peer limits? If this refers to "Maximum peers", 60.
3. How many seeds and peers does the `Peers' tab say there are in the swarm? I don't remember.
4. How long ago does the `Tracker' tab say the last announce and scrape results were? Dunno.
5. In the `Tracker' tab's list of trackers, how many Tiers are there, and how many trackers are listed for each tier? 8 tiers, 1 tracker per.
6. How many peers are you connected to? 60
7. Has your torrent finished downloading? No.
8. If you're still downloading, do any of the connected peers have a higher "completed" percentage than you? Yes, many are all green and "check marked".
9. Is your incoming peer port open or closed? Open. Have tried tens of different ones, all open. No joy.
