Permissions issue.

Post by Xeneth »

My Torrents will not start due to a "Permissions denied" error. The folders with the files being download have it set 777, so I'm thinking it's something else. When I look at the auth log, It does appear that it is that folder causing the issue.

This is using
Ubuntu 10.04 Server
Transmission-cli
Web interface.

I can keep guessing the cause of permissions, but I do not know how to trace the problem. Can I get a little help please?

along with the download-dir , you also need permission to write to the config-dir ( the directory where settings.json is located), otherwise transmission won't run.

Does it need permission for the entire dir or just the file?

Is the torrent folder on the same partition / drive as the OS?

Before you run Transmission, load the folder in your directory tool, then run Transmission.
Do you get the same error?
