How to add magnet links to remote Transmission?

Post by smilinggoat »

I use Transmission 2.42 running on my Mac OS 10.7 desktop machine and it automatically adds .torrent files which get placed in my Dropbox folder remotely. I often add .torrents to the watched Dropbox folder from my Mac OS 10.7 laptop or iOS 5 iPad.

Can anyone recommend a strategy to add magnet links remotely?

Regards

Are you able to enable the web UI for Transmission? You can login via a web browser and copy/paste the Magnetic URL into the Open... dialog.

I do that from work all the time to my home desktop.

Good call smajor, I hadn't bothered enabling the web UI, but it works well for this usage scenario. Thanks

I am also looking for a way to add magnet links from a remote computer on the network. My wife have a couple of British TV shows that she likes to watch and that are not included in the TV Shows 2 app. I have been adding the torrent to a network share that Transmission monitors and automatically moves the files around based on the groupings.

When the Web UI is used the groupings are not looked at which would mean that I would need to keep monitoring the download and manually move the files around.

Thanks
