Selecting separate files suddenly disabled

Post by handofdoom »

When I added a new download today, for some reason it did not automatically open in Transmission, but in another torrent program.

I then opened Transmission manually, and set it to be the default program for downloading magnet links, even though I have never used the magnet link system before.

Now, I am unable to check selected files, for instance when trying to download a season of a TV show, and I only want some of the episodes.

The box that used to pop up earlier, where I can select which files I want to download, simply does not appear anymore.

I have tried to download two other torrent clients to check if this was related to Transmission, but the result was the same.

Can anyone please give me a solution to this problem, so that I don’t have to download 20 GB’s when I only need 2 of them?

Magnet links initially do not contain the torrent file structure, so it is impossible to do selective downloads on the onset. You have to wait till the meta-data is acquired, which can take from a few to several minutes. After that, you can select/de-select files same as always.

Thanks! Works now, albeit a bit less practical IMO.

So I guess I have to somehow deactivate the magnet feature if I want to pick files in advance...
