Fully downloaded Torrent suddenly turned to corrupted.

Post by patifr »

dear all,

I am experiencing some strange problems there with Transmission 2.75:
- Some fully downloaded files (some of them are there for a couple of months) suddenly turned to "Stopped" and file is declared corrupted.
- Some active torrents (file being downloaded) suddently stopped with a "Bad File Descriptor" error.
- Transmission freezes from time to time (best example: when having a "verify local data" in progress when downloadindg.
- No error reported neither by OS X nor by Synology.

May be:
- Too many files managed by Transmission?
- A system conf limitation?

What I already tried:
- Reboot Mac
- Restart Synology, switch, ADSL modem
- Disable indexing (Spotlight) on ALL drives

My conf:
MAC OS X 10.6.8
Transmission 2.75
Files are stored on Synology DS411 connected to the MAC via a 1Gb switch.

ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Some updates:
After I tried all possible options (not sure I can be exhaustive on this), I decided to go back to V2.73 and it seems to work better than 2.75:
- No more corrupted files (up to now!)
- No more freezes.

It seems that 2.73 is much more stable than 2.75 on OS X 10.6.8.

Only remaining problem is that Transmission announces a port closed on any port value I use when the port is reported open using a test with http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Interesting though.

Some updates:
- After switching back to 2.73, all downloads seem working fine
- All other errors (file becoming corrupted, network problems) are gone.

On my side, 2.73 is preferable to 2.75 on MAC OS 10.6.8
