Hi all,
I'm a newbie in torrents so please bear with me if my question does not make sense! I am using Transmission 2.61 on Mac OSX 10.7.5.
I am currently downloading a file with Transmission and I am downloading at nearly half of my maximum downloading speed. The torrent I'm downloading seem to be a healthy one (Transmission shows I'm connected to 34 of 107 peers) but it's the download speed that is quite slow. As I said, nearly half of my usual download speed.
After doing a search, I noticed a few threads pointing towards checking whether my Peer Listening Port is opened. Well I did just that and it says the Port (51413) is closed!
I did some more search and found that I MUST open the port for torrents to work properly. Also, the file I'm downloading is seeding properly! So what am I missing? Should I fiddle with that Port setting? Am I getting a slow download speed because that Port is closed? Will my download speed improve if I change that Port setting?
Thank you for your help!
