Hi!
I've been doing some troubleshooting on my brand new Retina MacBook Pro that has exhibited some strange fan issues (described and discussed here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21040705#21040705). After testing different combinations of running apps etc., I've found that this problem (so far) only occurs when Transmission is running and downloading, but with very light use otherwise (1 - 3% CPU usage). I've been unable to reproduce this in any other way, even when running quite heavy workloads, downloading data through browsers etc. I've reset the SMC and tried the other obvious ointments. Could it be Transmission related?
Has anyone experienced anything similar on the rMBP or other models?
(Specs: 15" rMBP with 2.6/512/16 configuration running Mountain Lion 10.8.2, Transmission 2.76 installed)
Thanks!

Re: Transmission producing rMBP fan trouble?
I’ve got the exact same configuration machine, purchased just a few days ago, and am experiencing the same issue. It’s definitely related to Transmission, though, and occurs even if no other applications are running. Just wanted to make sure this received the appropriate amount of attention.
Re: Transmission producing rMBP fan trouble?
I've got no idea why this might be happening, especially considering the lower CPU use.
If either of you find a lead on this s.t. some action can be taken to fix the problem, please let me know.

Is it possible that it has something to do with the "Automatic graphics switching" feature (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4044)? I don’t have access to a 13" rMBP, but I imagine that someone who did would be able to confirm or deny this as a possibility.

May be it is just because your HDD is overheated, not CPU?

Hi.
I had the same issue with the fans kicking in with no load. Wrote to apple service and they suggested to take the computer to diagnosis or something. Took it there and after few hours i got a reply saying that the motherboard had some problems or faults and it needs to be replaced. So it goes to warranty and they replace the motherboard.
Its my first mac and reading all the issues with it in the web and now this i am quite worried about it. Did not expect anything like this from apple.
So take your computer to warranty and they should fix it.
