Transmission App: Connection Timeout

So I'm bad at this stuff, my apologies in advance for being the forum idiot.

Anyways, I installed the Remote Transmission app on my Galaxy S4 and no matter what I do I can't get a connection to my client.
What I've been inputting:
Host: (my IP address)
Port: 9091
Path: /transmission/rpc
Username: admin
Password: (my password)

Any idea why this won't work?

Edit: I'm using a Macbook running OSX 10.6.8 and have been searching online for a couple for a solution.

Sounds like firewall or port forwarding issue.
