so right now i have all my torrent files on my external hdd.
now i am going to be taking the data off it, putting it on another drive, then moving it back to the original drive but only after i have reformatted the original drive (taking out some partitions).
do i have to use the "Move data file to ..." for both moves?
i will not be turning on transmission in between the transfers.
i mean if i have to do that its going to take days. it always stalls when i move some thing bigger than 7 or so gb. so i would have to do it around 20 times for one move. then again for the second move.
Please there has to be a way around this.
move data file, putting it back in a same location, 2 moves

I don't see a way around this. Manually moving files without the "Move data file to" command has always resulted in corrupted data for me. But I'm no expert, someone else chime in if I'm wrong.
I suppose you could *try* a utility that clones drives like "SuperDuper" or "Carbon Copy Cloner." But in order to make sure everything was kosher, I suppose the HD names and paths and devices would have to be identical when Transmission was started.
