Just switched to v1.73 from v1.54 and have basic problem

i just updated yesterday to 1.73 from 1.54, as i just installed leopard and now am on 10.5.7.

only problem is that when the new transmission is running, it dominates all
other internet activity, so safari, firefox, software update, etc don't function (just incomplete, static blue progress bars).

i tried the older one (1.54) and all is normal as before.. transmission happily downloading and uploading say multiple torrents (15-20) while everything else functions fine as well.

anyone know what i need to do to get the new version working like the older one?

Have you tried limiting your bandwidth, number of peer connections, and number of active transfers?

<oh yeah, forgot to mention that when i had the issue, all i was doing was uploading,
all downloads were speed limited to zero.>

can you tell me where to go to limit bandwidth and peer connections?

would i use the same settings as the ones i used in the older version?

You'd find these in the transfer and bandwidth preference panes.
