transmission daemon abarts after a while

Any idea what may be causing this:

transmission-daemon: peer-mgr.c compareAtomsByUsefulness: Assertion `( 0 < a->from ) && ( a->from < TR_PEER_FROM__MAX )' failed.
Aborted

any pointers into how to track this down would be appreciated.

Using Ubuntu Jaunty, but I compiled transmission from source

$ transmission-daemon --version
Transmission 1.74+ (9086)
