Can I resume download after doing clean install??

Post by ridebash »

Hello to all,
I'm pretty new to downloading torrents / using transmission so forgive me for coming across as a novice;
I'm in the process of downloading some important files, but have to make an upgrade to Leapord Snow for work soon.

I want to do a "clean" install of OS snow to prevent any possible upgrade-related problems.
I've spent months downloading these torrents, some of which are above 50 %, but unfortunately don't have enough time to postpone upgrading to leopard.

Does anyone know of a way to save the progress I've made, then resume downloading where I left off once I re-install transmission?

I appreciate your help!

Thanks,

Just save the partially downloaded files and also the complete contents of Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Transmission/ to a backup media. Where I specify "yourusername" above, on your system it will be called whatever your user name is... such as /Users/jsmith/...

Do your clean install... then reinstall the Transmission app in the Applications folder, put the partially downloaded files in the same folder they were in before, and lastly put the application support files back in the same place they were. Start Transmission your in progress downloads should be there. Click the Transmission Transfers menu and click verify local data and after that resume your download.

Just to verify: after install, will it matter if I upgrade to the latest version of Transmission, or should I reinstall what I have running currently -V 1.34 (6770)?

Really helpful answer, ill use this as a guide. Thanks!!
