Hi, I've been using transmission for a while now. However, after a break for a bit while I was moving and sorting my new internet out, I upgraded transmission to 1.76.
After starting a few downloads I have found that unlike before when I used transmission I am having a few problems getting it to download or upload. What happens is that there will be no activity from transmission (some of the torrents say that they are downloading from a number of peers but the download speed is zero). Both the download and the upload speed will be zero and there will be no badges on the dock icon.
Then, after a while, all of a sudden things will jump to life and I get both a good download and upload speed. However, after a few seconds this will disappear and transmission will return to its previous state. This obviously makes downloads and uploads very slow for me and other people who wish to download from me as most of the time transmission appears to be doing nothing.
I have checked that my ISP is not blocking the ports and as both the download and the upload speed constantly appear and disappear I do not believe that it is a problem with not having any peers or anything like that. I will say now that I use Vidalia and the Tor network to connect to trackers and that I use encrypted peers. But again I cannot see how this would affect both the upload and downloads like this and I have experimented to make sure they do not, also the system worked fine before my long pause in use.
Thank you for any help that you can offer me, I've tried to figure this out by myself and by looking at the FAQ's and previous posts but have drawn a blank.

I have the same issue, seemed to crop up since upgrading to 1.76, will try reverting to 1.75 after this post and will let you know if I get good results.
Transfers (both uploads and downloads) will chug along at good speeds for variable amounts of time before simply dropping to a transfer speed of 0 kbps, both up and down. Upload and download both suddenly halt like this, and the debug console doesn't display and kind of error. Suddenly and randomly it seems, the debug console will start chugging away standard messages about scrapes and connections and such and the download and upload will start right up again, only to halt the same way seemingly randomly. Very frustrating, and delaying my downloads quite a bit. Ports are open and I've tried restarting my computer / router / modem to no avail.

Update: reverting to 1.75 didn't work, same problem happening. Now I'm not so sure when it began, but I can say that muTorrent works perfectly without interruptions, so it must be something wrong with how Transmission is handling connections. Can anyone shed light on this?
