Seeding ?- Older (10.4) version of Transmission

My private tracker is requesting i seed more and i'm having issues adding data files and their accompanying torrent files on to transmission for seeding. I have the older version of Transmission bc i have yet to update my OSX. There must be something simple I'm overlooking.

Yes I am a noob but any help is much appreciated; i do not want to be kicked from this tracker.

I don't get the problem, what are the issues when you open the .torrent files? or did I read something wrong?
btw are you sure you are using 10.4.11 and have the last security update installed? (check software-update)

I've got all the security updates.

the problem is this: I open the torrent file and it does not recognize that i have the entire document already downloaded.

Under transfers there is a option called verify data. try that
