How can I seeeeed more?????

Post by HorstPiffl »

My Transmission is working fine and I have read all similar posts. But:

1. Does the torrent-file have to stay in the same download folder as the downloaded file?

2. Or should I check the box "trash original torrent files"?

3. Some of the downloaded files appear in the Transmission window, some don´t. Why is that?

4. Do I have to keep the downloaded files in the download folder 4ever, in order to seed? What if I take them out and put them back again later? They don´t seem to seed then!?

Thanx!

1. You can change the setting in Transfers-> Default Location to change where the files download to.

2. The "trash original torrent box" gets rid of the torrent file when the program is finished with it.

3. When you are downloading the files to you choose to open them with transmission? Or do you have the auto add option enabled?

4. Short answer yes. They have to be in the place that transmission thinks they are, if you move them from there, without telling the program, it won't know where they are and won't be able to seed them.

Hope that helps.

1. you don't need to save torrent files, because Transmission keeps a copy of it (though I like to keep one if I accidentally delete a torrent file)

2. like I said by 1, that is your choice :)

3. I don't really get what you meant here

4. you can do that if you want, if you want to seed them again all you have to do is go to the menu transfers and select "verify data"

Hope this helps :)

Thank you guys, that helped! I found copies of the torrent files in the Application Support folder, that explains why I don´t have to keep the torrents in the download folder... THANX
